ELECMAN® UL Listed Raintight Steel EMT Coupling Compression Type
Raintight Steel EMT (Electrical Metallic Tubing) Coupling Compression Type is a specialized connector used in electrical installations to join two pieces of EMT conduit in outdoor or wet environments while providing a watertight and weather-resistant seal. EMT conduits are thin-walled metal tubing commonly used for protecting and routing electrical wires in buildings.
Similar to the standard EMT coupling, the raintight version consists of a threaded male end and a compression ring or nut. However, its design includes features to prevent water or moisture from entering the conduit and the connected electrical enclosure, ensuring a secure and weather-resistant connection between the two pieces of conduit.
During installation, the male ends of the EMT conduits are inserted into the coupling, and the compression rings or nuts are tightened onto the conduits using a wrench. The specialized design of the raintight coupling, along with additional sealing elements, helps maintain a watertight seal, protecting the electrical wiring inside from exposure to rain and other environmental elements.
Raintight Steel EMT Couplings are commonly used in outdoor electrical installations where the conduits need to be connected or extended, and protection against water ingress is crucial for the safety and reliability of the electrical system in challenging weather conditions.
